Interval training and circuit training is a vital part of conditioning. As round lengths vary from 2, 3 or 5 minutes with a 1 minute rest its important to learn to condition your body for the desired time. This specificity as well as a varity of skills can be achieved with our purpose built circuit which can be adapted for boxing, muay thai, MMA, cross training and weight loss.
Stations are numbered working sequentially with each station complimenting the last making it easy for your trainer to design a work out that will take the guess work out of your training.
With each bag and station having many different drills to be mastered you are able to add to your repertoire of skills. Lets face it how much better are you getting standing in front of a bag winging shots round after round?
Our philosophy is know your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Having a well rounded game is imperative. Being able to box, punch, fight on the inside or in a phone box might be necessary to over come and win.
History of The Boxing Studio
My love for boxing began in the early 80s watching the fabulous four of the middle weight era Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Ray Leonard. Anyone who has witnessed these epic battles can appreciate how it might impact on a young mind. I remember the electric atmosphere felt in the lounge wth my Dad in Mangere bridge as the fighters walked out and I wondered what was going through their minds. The intensity of the stare down and the unbrideled skill and ferocity that followed in the next 3 minutes was breath taking. Any boxing fan who has not seen Hagler V Hearns and the best round in middle weight history!
So it made me wonder what makes a fighter? Why does he face his fear?
